How to Stop Letting Comparison Steal Your Joy

Feeling uninspired, lost or just plain icky? It happens. Just don’t feel tempted to peek over at someone else’s life to compare it to yours.

You’ve heard it all before. Don’t compare your hustle to their highlight reel, blah blah blah. Even if you have this mantra seared into your brain, I promise you’re not immune. When it comes to comparison, resisting is easier said than done.

So, how can you go forth this year without getting caught up in comparisons and truly do you? Fear not, I have three things you can ask yourself right now to start feeling the joy and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing. My inspiration? This article from the Everygirl!

  1.       What are my choices?

You always have a choice. You can look at other people experiencing happiness or success and feel jealous and defeated. Or, you can feel happy for them and inspired by them, but refuse to let it derail your own growth.

  1.       What is my one goal?

Narrow down your list of goals to one thing. If you could only accomplish one thing in the next year, what would it be? Make it a big one, and your small goals will most likely follow suit.

  1.       What makes me imperfect?

Don’t be afraid to put it out there. Maybe you’re impatient, or maybe you recently failed at something. Be brave and put a name to it, so you can either accept it and move on, or work towards being better.
