How To Heal After A Breakup
Breakups are hard, but they don’t have to break YOU.
Whether it’s your significant other or a longtime friend, losing the presence of someone who was once so important can be devastating.
It can leave you sad, angry or in complete denial. It can leave your life in pieces too, but only if you let it.
Okay, time for a little tough love. Breakups are a part of life. You need to learn to deal, and in a healthy way.
(And don’t give me that “red wine is good for your health” excuse. That only goes so far!)
There are many different ways to grieve the loss of a relationship, no matter what your personality type may be. In fact, I found a great article that lists some genius ways to fast track acceptance and moving on.
If you’re feeling the sting from any kind of breakup right now and need some relief STAT, here are three things you can do now to feel better... in a constructive, healthy way.
- Rediscover a hobby. Is there something you’ve been neglecting, perhaps because of this relationship that just ended? Decide right now you’ll pick it up again, starting today.
- Put something in the books. Think of something to plan today that you can look forward to for the next few weeks or months. This could be as big as a vacation or as small as some well-deserved PTO.
- Go home. Speaking of trips, sometimes the best one (and most long-overdue) is to get back to your roots. Whatever home is to you, go there for a bit. You’ll feel better, I promise.
