Beat Back to School Stress!

Back to school can be a stressful time for a lot of families - mine included, so I wanted to take a moment to share a couple of tips to help combat some of that stress you might be feeling during this hectic time.

1. Focus on what you can control.

There are so many things that you can't control, it is important to focus on what you can. Carve out time for homework or that snack before practice. Plan ahead and have a great attitude - if you've got to do it anyway, you might as well have a positive attitude!

2. Create opportunities to recharge.

Take a quick walk, read a few pages in a book - anything that helps you feel a bit more centered. Simply set aside a few quiet minutes to reset and recharge each day. And remember, the kiddos need to recharge too.

3. Practice gratitude.

When we are in a feeling space of gratefulness it is hard to be annoyed at the little things. Create those rituals that allow you to recognize and acknowledge all you have to be grateful for. Make it a family affair and share positive things from your day at dinner, before bed or even when you’re driving in the car from one activity to another.

Incorporating these small shifts over time can create massive changes in your well being - and hopefully, allow you to hold on to that relaxed summer feeling just a little bit longer.

What do you do to soothe back-to-school stress? I'd love to hear from you!
