How to Learn a New Language
Ladies, I am in a constant state of learning. Whether it be a crash course on how to master an impossible yoga pose, or perfecting my winged eyeliner with the latest and greatest beauty products, I want to stay on top of it all. No matter how long it’s been since some of us have set foot in an actual classroom, none of us fully stop being students, am I right? Especially when it comes to striving toward life balance.
For this week’s bit of inspiration, I wanted to concentrate on good, old-fashioned learning. It’s time to dust off your trusty planner and favorite number 2 pencils, because honey, you’re going back to school. This time, to learn a new language!
Here’s my basic list of ways to dive in and add “bilingual” to your list of amazing qualities. Life is all about taking on challenges to become a better, happier more beautiful YOU! If learning a new language is something you’ve always wanted to do, what’s stopping you from achieving your personal development goals?
(I know it’s not being unsure of how to get started. I just did that work for you!)
Go the traditional route and research classes in your area. Or, if you’re feeling particularly ambitious, find some options to teach yourself! Ask around for recommendations either way.
Come on, you know one of the best parts of school was new school supplies. Stock up on pencils, pens, notebooks and notecards to help you study. Seriously, when was the last time you got to buy a cute notebook?
Dedicate yourself to the cause. Whether it’s investing in a killer outfit to get you in the spirit (I’m thinking stripes and a beret if French is your language of choice) or enlisting a friend to come along for the ride; just do something to keep you committed to the end goal!
A trip overseas isn’t always the most realistic option for every Happy Gracer. If you can, book an authentic trip. If not, go to local restaurants, stores and cultural districts where you could put your new skills to use.
So, what will it be? French, Spanish, Mandarin? Keep is in the loop along the way, Happy Gracers.
